  Phew, I'm bushed mate
It's like the night after the party. Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign has been silenced - ish - after eventually running out of steam in the early hours.

Today we're being treated to Barrack Obama's Luther-Kingesque prophesising and Hillary saying she may be out of it but she's still thinking about how best to continue to be in it, albeit in a completely non-potentially presidential way.

And so the debate continues. One certain thing has emerged from the past many months of fevered primary campaigning - media coverage of political leadership races remains utterly dull.

The press really need to come up with a more interesting formula for covering this sort of thing, particularly over here in the UK, where frankly we're not that bovvered. A good start would be to drop the daily analysis when nothing much has happened. Better would be to appreciate that there is a lot more news going on in the world than covering a party leadership contest to the point of extreme tedium.

Maybe there are marketing openings here. ‘The Race for the White House, brought to you by Dulux: because it's as interesting as watching paint dry.

Comments:
Ok - so everyone's a little bored of the Obama/Clinton face off. But, wait for it, we'll have another six months of debate over McCain versus Barack...woo hoo. But at least Bush will be out of a Whitehouse...

I disagree actually - the Obama/Clinton face off was fascinating, and I had no beef with the reporting of it.

Spent a week in San Francisco in March and people there seemed really energised and excited by the prospect of either the first female, or first black president.

Whether that excitement is sustainable until the actual election remains to be seen, but I've been impressed by both the action and the reporting of it.
