  Twitter cull: no place for A-listers
Will McInnes has listed Twitter insights including a comment on A-listers.

A-listers don't work for me in Twitter - too noisy, too newsy, too me-me-me - my favourite people in Twitter belong to Brighton or to the social media (inc. tech PR, enterprise software etc) melting pot, my real world communities.

A-list Twitter users (Tweeters) are characterised by a huge volume of posts per day, follow a small number of people yet have a large number of followers and rarely engage in conversation.I culled half-a-dozen A-listers from my network this morning. They are far too noisy (large volume of posts), ego-driven and I’m not interacting or learning anything.

I’m not alone. Here’s reaction after I came clean on Twitter.

beneboy @wadds am thinking of doing the same re A-listers, especially the cartoonist.

freecloud @wadds I feel exactly same re A listers, I've culled a few and am getting ready to cull quite a few more. Is it me or are they getting worse

Who else has culled A-listers from their twitter and is it the same for other social media applications? Or is Twitter really become just a place where social media types can have geeky and exclusive conversations?

Spot on. All I seem to hear from Hugh MacLeood is how tired he is or how he's fed up with people asking things of him. Yawn!! I won't be ditching Scoble but MacLeod's definitely heading for the Gaping Void...
 
I like MacLoed but like i told Wadds, i use it to talk to people that i could potentially go to the pub with and talk about social media because i'm interested in it not because i have to for work. Must say i've done the same for Face book with all the people who keep sending me widgets like how many times i piss a day. Social Media is great but can often be a bit noisy. Having said that Brian Solis always offers good links.

So what i'm saying is - let's make social media exclusive - not for the a-listers and not for the 'normal' folk. but for me and my geek friends. Viva the revolution!
