  Tough times for Ashley
So Ashley Cole has revealed in The Times that everyone is to blame for his transfer to Chelsea apart from him – Arsenal for not offering him more than £60,000 per week (!), the fans for turning on him when he met illegally with Chelsea to discuss a transfer and the young players for not playing as a team -despite reaching the Champions League Final).

Having paid a six figure sum to serialise Ashley Cole’s autobiography, My Defence, The Times must have thought they had a real winner with the young England hero. However, the ‘amicable’ transfer to Chelsea has resulted in negative feedback from The Times readers.

It will be interesting to see the sales figures of The Times this week - when David Beckham’s autobiography was serialised in the News of the World the circulation went down. But David Beckham’s autobiography revealed that he was a nice guy, whilst Ashley Cole’s reveals - well quite a lot about his morals - and unfortunately I can see both The Times and his autobiography doing well.

Comments:
Ashley Cole? Rhymes with 'Own Goal' - exactly what he's scored here. Full backs aren't superstars. Period. Get some perspective Cole and prepare yourself for some verbal abuse from fans across the country who WORK HARD for a year to gain what you get paid in two days for kicking a ball around a paddock.

He is a hard guy to feel sorry for true, and comes across as a stupid, immoral, greedy whinger. But in all honesty, wouldn't anyone change jobs if they were offered stupid amounts of money to do so? I know I would.

Paul, fair comment and the amounts they are talking about are huge but what difference is ten grand or so a week when you are literally making millions? I don't think the complaint is about the transfer either - it's the shady way it was done and the reaction of Ashley Cole and Chelsea afterwards, especially within the media. You'd think Simon Greenburg, Chelsea's director of communications, would have figured out that Chelsea is already a much hated club - more so than Man U ever were in the 90's - and they should keep out of the media spotlight for the time being or at least show some dignity, like Arsene Wenger has done at Arsenal (by wishing Cole luck) rather than whinging.
